Becoming a Member of the SES

Adult Membership

Getting the washing up done - SES way!!!Members are volunteers from all walks of life including farmers, nurses, professional people, housewives and business people. Membership is free. After a 3 month probation period, the accepted probationary will be issued with protective clothing and officially become  a member of the State Emergency Service.

The Ipswich City Unit has a membership of 205 Members and 93 Cadets. To become a probationary member you can:

  • Fill in an application for membership form and deliver or mail it to the SES.

  • Contact the SES on 07 3202 1711 (Mon - Fri, 8.30am-4.00pm)

  • Fax the SES on 07 3812 0456

  • Email the SES at ipses@gil.com.au and ask for more information.


Cadet Membership

Cadets train with the floodboatThe State Emergency Service Cadet program aims at providing Secondary School students who have started grade 8 and up to 16 years of age with:

  • Opportunities to demonstrate a sense of responsibility through community service

  • Leadership, initiative and team skills

  • Accreditation to improve employment and further education opportunities.

All Cadets spend at least two hours in training, per week and have access to a training camp during school holidays to further develop their skills and experience in their Cadet Unit.
