Members are volunteers from all
walks of life including farmers, nurses, professional people, housewives and business people. Membership is
free. After a 3 month probation period, the accepted probationary will be issued with protective clothing and
officially become a member of the State Emergency Service.

The State Emergency Service Cadet program aims at
providing Secondary School students who have started grade 8 and up to 16 years of age with:

Opportunities to demonstrate a sense of responsibility through community service

Leadership, initiative and team skills

Accreditation to improve employment and further education opportunities.
All Cadets spend at least two hours in training, per week and have access to a training camp during school
holidays to further develop their skills and experience in their Cadet Unit.
